Vocational Training programme, Egypt

Partner: Think and Do: Vocational Training programme
Place: Egypt: Trainees come from all over the country, especially from the villages of Upper Egypt.

The programme seeks to equip young people in poor circumstances with vocational skills and wider life skills that will help them to earn a living and to lead a worthwhile and fulfilling life. Vocational training courses, normally lasting 10 days, are offered at Think and Do's training centre. The daily programme includes 6 hours of practical and theoretical training in a skill, plus spiritual input. Twice a day, trainees take part in discussions on practical and social issues and creativity exercises designed to stimulate their thinking.

Prayer points:

  1. To increase the number of trainees to 1500 in 2008.
  2. To find 5 believers ready to be trainers for each vocation.
  3. To bring trainees from new areas, particularly from the Delta.
  4. More follow-up of the trainees.
  5. That God will open up opportunities of employment, and that each trainee will work after the course in the vocation that he learned.
  6. That more trainees with a nominal Christian faith will get to know the Lord through the training courses.
  7. That more churches will respond to the vision and help to develop it.
  8. That the financial needs will be covered.
  9. For all the workers in the department.
  10. Funds to enable us to give the trainees tools of their trade as a grant or loan.
