Emmanuel Hospital Association, India

Partner: Emmanuel Hospital Association
Place: New Delhi and 25 other locations in 14 states and one union territory in India

The description of our work is available on our website www.eha-health.org. Our vision is “Fellowship for Transformation through caring”. Our mission statement is “EHA is a fellowship of Christian institutions and individuals that exist to transform communities through caring, with primary emphasis on the poor and the marginalised”.

Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) was founded in 1970 as an indigenous Christian health and development agency serving the people of North and North-East India. Its primary focus is the poor, largely in rural areas. With a catchment population of nearly seven million, EHA treats more than 500,000 patients each year in some of India’s most needy areas.

The origins of the Emmanuel Hospital Association can be found in the late 1960s when a group of Indian and international leaders and health care workers met together to look for appropriate ways to bring about long-term sustainability of some 13 former mission hospitals, founded by workers from the UK, USA and Australia, who were facing an uncertain future because of paucity of funds and the difficulty of obtaining visas for overseas health professionals. EHA’s founding 13 hospitals have since grown to a network of 20 hospitals and 19 community health and development projects, 8 HIV/AIDS projects, 4 GNM schools and 2 ANM schools.

Prayer points:

  • Pray for all our staff that God would empower us and give us compassionate hearts as we serve the poor and the  marginalised.
  • Pray that we will remain focussed on the poor and the marginalised in spite of the competition in health care in India.
  • Pray that our hospitals and projects will be places where people receive healing and wholeness.

We are Christians passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives - overcoming global poverty.
So our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
