Diocese of Gitega, Burundi

Partner: Diocese of Gitega
Place: Gitega, Burundi

The Diocese of Gitega through the community Development office, headed by NDIBWAMI François is working on the community resilience and dialogue which supports vulnerable (widows, children headed families) people and those living with HIV/AIDS to enhance them to recover from a long period conflict and its aftermath. Pray that the activities carried out may contribute to improve their health and socio- economic conditions.

In the mean time there are a lot of repatriate and spontaneous returnees. They come bare hands almost naked, they need help and shelters; the children need schools and the government was not prepared for this rush of repatriates and returnees, that’s why it has called churches for assistance.

Pray for the Church when it seeks to alleviate their burden .
Pray also for the process of reconciliation and unity among Burundians.

The Diocese is also training pastors in holistic development and resource mobilisation so that they can improve their capacities and build their  ownership  in the local churches.

Pray for the climate change which  disturbs many activities of rural population.

We are Christians passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives - overcoming global poverty.
So our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
